QUORUM, US COY TO INVEST N730BN IN NIGERIA’S AVIATION
A United States company, 328 Support Services GmbH and Quorum Aviation Ltd have signed an agreement to invest $2bn (about N730bn) in the Nigerian aviation industry in the next five (5) years. Managing Director, Quorum Aviation, Mr. Abiola Lawal, at the signing ceremony in Lagos said the investment would enable the two organisations to invest in aviation infrastructure, training school and acquisition of new aircraft amongst others.
Under the partnership, 328 Support would supply aircraft for the Quorum’s Abuja-Kaduna air shuttle service project, which was in partnership with the Kaduna State Government. The partnership he said was announced in late 2019 with the Kaduna State Government.

The absence of the Nigerian Army and The Nigeria Police at the official launch of Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) had almost confirmed the rumours that the cabal at the presidency was not favourably disposed to the setting up of the regional security outfit
The Southwest Governors, namely Dr. Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Engr. Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Prince Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Chief Adegboyega Oyetola (Osun) and Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu (Lagos) in June last year met in Ibadan and decided to put aside their political differences to curb rising insecurity in the region. NOTE: Korean companies can speak directly with the states government of Amotekun who have decided to close the gap of the security in this region as procurements of products will be a constant request as equipment will be needed.

The Nigerian Navy says newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff of Indian Navy, Adm. Karambir Singh, has expressed readiness to strengthen existing levels of bilateral cooperation with the Nigerian counterpart. He affirmed that the Indian Navy greatly value the relationship with the Nigerian Navy and pledged that the Indian Navy would continue to work closely with the Force in the collective pursuit of maritime security.

Also the Nigerian Navy decorated (Shipping of stripes) 16 newly promoted Rear Admirals with their new ranks. The Navy Board recently approved the promotion of 140 naval officers to the next ranks in the Nigerian Navy. Speaking at the decoration of the recently elevated flag officers in Abuja, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas, said the 16 senior officers had distinguished themselves over time to earn the confidence and endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari.

AFRICAN MILITARY CHIEFS TO MEET ON TERRORISM
Following the growing threat of terrorism in the continent, African military chiefs are to meet to fashion ways of tackling the menace and President Mohammed Buratai called for synergy as Egypt trains army aviation personnel. This is coming as the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, has disclosed that as part of the strategies to float an army aviation department to complement troops in the fight against insurgency, army personnel are presently undergoing training in Egypt.
The last meeting of African military chiefs that held in Malawi last year dwelt on improving military/civilian relationship in communities. He said Nigeria would attend the event scheduled for Cairo, Egypt. Buratai said this is because Egypt has the most powerful military in Africa and we have a lot to learn from them especially in the area of counter insurgency.

가. DRONE PROCUREMENT
Nigeria's army has launched its "Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad" which will use drones in its surveillance efforts. What makes this launch curious is that it appears that the Nigerian army's 32 Artillery Brigade of the Owena Barracks in Akure will be using two DJI Phantom 4 drones which are no longer in production.

It is also not clear who the Nigerian army procured the drones from and for how much.
What is worrying is that just in neighbouring Niger, the USA is building the world's largest military grade drone plant and base. This drone base in the middle of the Sahara Desert is said to cost over $100 million to construct and over $10 million per year to run.
It was explained that the drone, a Phantom 5DGI, procured by the army would assist the military formation of the anti-kidnapping Squad in identifying the movement and activities of suspected bandits, kidnappers, and other criminals. - Sahara Reporters

The GULMA drone which was unveiled by Goodluck Jonathan's regime (2016), is the country’s first indigenous unmanned aerial vehicle (drone), designed and constructed by the Nigerian Air Force. Besides its diverse military application, the vessel provides a range of benefits in disaster management, power line surveys and law enforcement. The drone is also useful in aerial imaging/mapping, telecommunications and weather monitoring.

나이지리아 내무부 및 나이지리아 경찰청, 2020년도 방산거점무역관으로서의 라고스의 주된 업무추진 대상임.
The Ministry of Interior and the Nigeria Police Force are main target of KOTRA Lagos to focus in this year’s KODAS 2020 with support from related products companies. There is need to focus on stake holders and donations of items to some units is one way to penetrate the government in Nigeria.

Also KOTRA Lagos request more efforts should be put by Korean companies to attend the exhibitions last reported while KODAS 2020 should be used as a vital tool to allow participation of various private defence companies who in one way or the other are linked with various top federal and state level top personnel who see themselves as stakeholders.
